Five Soaring Stars (Week 5)

Players ready to dominate rest of the season for your fantasy teams

Jake Ferguson (TE):

Yes, I did just trade for him and maybe this sounds biased after knowing that information, but I see the guy as a near lock for top five at the tight end position. Everyone gasped when he went down holding his knee against the Cleveland Browns. It was very possible that maybe he sustained a season ending injury, but instead he just missed one single week. Through four weeks of play he is the number ten tight end overall in fantasy football despite missing the Cowboys week two contest and missing a quarter and a half against Cleveland in Week one. He continues to get a million targets each week and I don’t see any other player on the Cowboys threatening his wide receiver two status in this Dallas offense. In his two full games played he has put up a very respectable 15.5 points and 11.9 points despite not finding the endzone, which in today’s landscape of tight ends is phenomenal production. His target share is automatic as well when Dak is operating the offense giving him eleven and seven targets in the last two contests as he is Dak’s go to guy outside of Lamb. Ferguson’s situation is also incredibly rare when looking through tight end options considering the Cowboys have zero threat on the ground against any defense, especially the really good ones, which guarantees top end passing volume for a Quarterback that is getting $40 million for the next four years. As long as this guy stays on the field you have probably the safest tight end in all of fantasy football considering how high his floor is each and every week. Trade for him now you won’t regret it. He is my new tight end in replacement of Pitts and his value to me is higher than Dalton Kincaid who people spent a much higher pick on in fantasy. Man am I happy.

Nick Chubb (RB):

The man who proclaims he is Batman is looking to make the most improbable return of a running back in NFL history. In an offense that’s desperate for any life Nick Chubb is essentially their only hope. After destroying his knee once again the concern for a falloff is at an all time high, but when you rehab as hard as he did in the offseason and want to give something to your fanbase as bad as he wants to, anything is possible. Just look at J.K Dobbins who was written off before this year and is producing despite having Greg Roman as one of the worst offensive play callers in the NFL. Chubb has always been a premier back boasting the best efficiency on the ground of any running back in the modern NFL. In fact, over the entirety of his career he is second all time in yards per carry trailing only Jamaal Charles at 5.4 yards per carry to Chubb’s 5.3 yards per carry. He’s ahead of Jim Brown, who’s widely regarded as top two if not the best running back in NFL history fighting for the throne alongside Barry Sanders. I can’t wait to see Chubb back in action and if he can work his way back up to an elite workload by week nine or ten then your gamble in fantasy might pay off as you witness history from Chubb.

Jordan Addison (WR):

This guy’s usage has been incredibly promising considering he has Justin Jefferson, the best receiver in the league, next to him. Addison also has a cupcake schedule rest of season with a huge stretch of playing the worst teams in football on the defensive side of the ball. I mean he’s playing the Lions, Rams, Colts, Jaguars, and Cardinals in five of the next six weeks after their week six bye. In the London game Darnold missed him on a few nice routes he ran in a game he easily could’ve had six catches for 100 yards. Addison hasn’t just looked good since his ankle injury, he has looked like a WR2 and an automatic flex play week to week. This guy won the Biletnikoff for a reason and when Hockenson returns this might be one of the top offenses in all of football as long as Aaron Jones can get healthy soon. This might be the best week for the vikings to have the bye with Hockenson trying to work his way back and with Jones sustaining a hip injury against the Jets. Addison just has a knack for getting open and if Darnold doesn’t have a random falloff in the most important year of his career then Addison might see himself in the Vikings offense as their Tee Higgins in Minnesota. After this bye week I am a massive buyer of this man.

Stefon Diggs (WR):

With Nico Collins sustaining an injury that could sideline the NFL’s top wideout for many weeks comes Stefon Diggs. Stroud has been red hot and Diggs has sustained a steady role of receiving a nice target share in this offense. So far Tank Dell has been a dumpster fire and all the optics are pointing to Diggs needing to step up as the WR1 in Houston while Nico is sidelined. Another thing that might boost his stock even more is the idea that Joe Mixon will return to this offense very soon. This will create a balanced attack for CJ to operate play action out of, which might lead to Diggs getting a small share of deep ball looks that could cement him as a high end WR2 for the foreseeable future. After being branded as a diva on the field in Buffalo he hasn’t had the same attitude problems he had in Buffalo last year and he’s currently the eighth wide receiver in all of fantasy football, which is something that most definitely wasn’t on my radar. I did take him in two of my three leagues so this scenario has become incredibly intriguing to me. He’s in a contract year with one of the best passing quarterbacks in all of football. What more do you need? With Stroud’s innate ability to extend plays and Diggs consistently finding space in the intermediate passing game his stock is at an all time high right now and could potentially remain that way the rest of the season even with a healthy Nico Collins.

Jameson Williams (WR):

With the Lions offense consistently looking to this track sprinter to make huge plays I just don’t see a downside to his game that is worrisome aside from having games without much of a target share in a loaded Detroit offense. That being said he is a constant candidate for a deep bomb where he outruns the whole defense and Detroit is no stranger to shootout games. Time and time again Aaron Glenn’s defense gives up easy yardage and long drives to opponents, which requires Goff to play like he did against the Seahawks in order to win. Jameson Williams is the second most effective weapon in this passing attack and can easily fulfill the role of being one of the best fantasy flex receivers in all of fantasy. If you can somehow poach him off a leaguemate I would look to do so quite soon. Rest of season the Lions will continue to struggle in their secondary and the amount of scoring in all of their contests should be astronomical considering how loaded their division is on the offensive side of the ball. His start to 2024 is proving the Lions coaching staff right in their assessment that Jamo was the most improved Lions player in training camp. He is motivated to destroy the narrative of him being a bust as soon as possible and I don’t see why Ben Johnson wouldn’t dial up a few home runs to him in each game. He’s having a good time on the field and the numbers show that he is no slouch this season with only one dud in a game against the Cardinals where Jared Goff and the play calling was downright terrible. You can’t teach Williams’ speed in the open field and I’m a firm believer in his rest of season production.
