About the Author:
My name is Kasey Bernas and I’m a 22 year old who’s an avid football fan and have been since I was a wee lad. Growing up I was infatuated with the game of football. I played it, studied it, and was obsessed at the beginning with the idea of tracking player stats. My system started with collecting thousands of trading cards and watching every game I could with my pops. I cried when Rahim Moore gave up the deep ball to Jacoby Jones in 2013 AFC divisional round (Ravens vs Broncos) while witnessing the greatest resurgence of a career I’d ever seen with Peyton Manning. I leapt for joy when Cassius Winston took my MSU Spartans past Duke’s Dream Team in March Madness. I nearly blew the roof off my house when Kirk Cousins found Keith Nichols on a Hail Mary in primetime versus Russell Wilson and the Wisconsin Badgers to win their primetime matchup in Spartan Stadium. That’s what the game is about. Uniting all walks of life, experiencing highs and lows with the teams you root for, and forming brotherhoods with those who gave you love for the precious game of football. I’m here to pass my love of the game onto others to give them that same emotional connection I’ve had with the game. One of my favorite aspects of sports is making predictions and I like to think I’m pretty decent in that realm. Down below I’ll place some of the predictions I’ve made in the past both bad and good to give you, the reader, an idea of how I like to think.
Good
Cassius Winston would become the best point guard in the Big Ten over Xavier Simpson
Gardner Minshew II is a starting caliber QB (when he was in Philly)
Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson were both NFL quality QBs (Big Ten bias)
Sam Laporta and Jahmyr Gibbs would both find success (drafted Laporta around pick 123 in every fantasy league I was in)
Dallas Mavericks to make it to the NBA Finals (Choked so bad in the NBA Finals)
Penciled in Rashee Rice as automatic WR1 in Kansas City
Believed in Tank Dell (He will be WR1 in Houston)
Always have stood by Amari Cooper and knew the Cowboys made a mistake not retaining him
Had stock in Jake Ferguson last season, before the year started
Knew Ceedee Lamb would have his best year in 2023 (Talent+Opportunity= Dream scenario)
Loved Swift going to Philadelphia last year
Wasn’t high on Michael Mayer
Couldn’t believe Bryce Young became the first pick in the draft over Stroud (It was so painfully obvious that Stroud was the guy)
Bad
Thought Rashod Bateman was the TRUTH
Thought Darren Waller had much more gas in the tank than he did
Believed Mariota would solidify himself as the starter in Atlanta
Defended Zach Wilson because of his offensive line (Did not think he’d be good though to clarify)
Wanted Jadeveon Clowney on my Lions really bad when he was a free agent
Gave up on Alex Anzalone and then he dominated last year
Thought DeAndre Hopkins would produce big time in his first year with the Titans
Thought Dee Millner, CB out of Bama, would be a monster in the NFL
Believed Tyree Wilson was raw, but could make a nice impact in the NFL
Thought Tyrell Williams was going to sustain the play he had with Oakland
Liked Myles Gaskin a lot for the Dolphins
Meh
Loved Zack Moss (predraft), he’s solid
Hated Baker Mayfield as the first pick
Loved Carson Wentz as a draft pick for the Eagles, man was he special at one point
Don’t believe in Kyler Murray
Think Tua isn’t even top 15 at the QB position
Past/Present Predictions
